What we’ve got here . . . is failure to communicate
Cool Hand Luke (1967)
So…let’s communicate!
Some town residents believe that credit for much of the commercial development here in Virgin should be laid at my door because construction began after I assumed office as Mayor in 2022. However, I and my present town council can neither take credit nor blame for town council decisions made before we assumed office.
It is quite common for a project to start construction quite some time after receiving approval. This leads to an inaccurate belief as to which Mayor and town council members held office at the time of project approval.
Once a project has received approval, property rights attach to the property and the developer is entitled to build. A subsequent Mayor and Town Council cannot undo that prior approval.
The chart below is to clarify for readers exactly when each commercial development project in Virgin was approved.
I hope this eliminates any further confusion or misunderstandings. Feel free to contact me if you have any more questions.
